Milky Way For Beginners Photography Workshop

If you are new to Milky Way photography or a novice who wants to improve their skills, join Photographers Trail Notes for a fun and educational workshop as we explore the wonderful dark skies around Moab, UT, including Arches NP, Canyonland NP, and Dead Horse Point State Park.

Your Workshop Guide

Join us for an exciting six-day, five-night Milky Way photography workshop in the Moab area.

This workshop is designed to introduce you to all aspects of Milky Way photography, including the right equipment, camera settings, composition, capture techniques, photographing under dark skies, and image processing.

We will cover various Milky Way photography techniques, such as taking single images, capturing multiple images (with separate exposures for the sky and foreground), stacking multiple shots to reduce noise, using a star tracker (which we will provide for participants), and blending techniques. The workshop will also include several days of classroom-style processing sessions.

The workshop will feature on-site training during the day, followed by opportunities to practice your new skills under the magnificent dark skies at Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Dead Horse Point State Park. You will receive hands-on training in an area so dark that you can barely see your hand directly in front of your face.

This workshop is limited to just four (4) participants, allowing for focused attention to help you learn how to photograph the Milky Way and capture beautiful images in this incredible setting.

While Milky Way photography will be the main focus, we will also have the chance to photograph sunsets each day and a few sunrises when time permits.
